"Holy basil" and "Tulasi" are different species....don't be confused.

I wasn't confused, but I am now. Holy basil, ocimum tenuiflorum, tulasi, tulsi all refer to the same species according to what I looked up. Link?

It is all the same family but different species. The "Thulasi" which Indians keep in their house for worship is white colour flower. The Basil which Thais eat is purple colour flower. Thai basil has stronger taste than the Indian Thulasi. Indian Thulasi emits more oxygen than Thai basil. That is the main reason it is grown in the middle of the house and worshipped by people every morning. When you go around it praying basically you inhale more oxygen
