Statistics provided by the Central Domicile Registration Office revealed that on December 31, 2022, Thailand’s official population stands at 66,090,475. The Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data contradicts this however, saying it is over 70 million residents. Last year, an announcement formally published in the Royal Gazette stated that the official population of Thailand as of December 31, 2021, was 66,171,439, meaning there are 80,964 fewer people in the country than last year. The data are not conflicted, they are just different. The latest census is used by the Central Domicile Registration Office so it relects that counting of the population. Worldometer use what they call an eleboration of information, in otherwise they play with numbers and come up with an estimate. So these two so called conflicting figures are in fact apples and pomegranates.
