Just think. That 25% have probably infected everyone else on the plane and they will get the good news in about 3 or 4 days.

25% is actually LOW for Chinese.  In Italy the percentage of Chinese arrivals with Covid now was nearly 50%!

Chinese tourists are still not allowed to enter Taiwan at this time but the policy is currently scheduled to expire on January 31.

Almost all Taiwanese.

Extrapolating that back into China's total population - 25% of 1.4 billion kind of makes a nonsense of China's "official" numbers.

Granted, but they don't all live in the Mainland, geddit? It's fairly easy to work out. Also, you can follow the one China policy as promulgated by over 165 countries to find out to simplify it enough, should it be necessary. Have a wonderful evening.

How does that change the fact they contracted Covid in China and brought it over with them to Taiwan? 25% is a lot, and clearly arrivals from China should be at least tested, if not barred completely. But exactly like 2020 - they'll allow them all in for the cash grab, then when they're gone wake up and realize they can no longer contain the situation and here comes curfews and such. This can be prevented, but they won't. 2023 is gonna suck.

Actually even requiring 48-hr PCR tests is not enough at this point, since 25%-35% of the passengers can easily infect all the rest of the passengers. So it'd have to be either multi-day quarantine or barring entry a la Morocco. Thailand though easily adopts the measure "money today, will deal, somehow, with problem tomorrow".
