The Disease Control Department in Thailand it’s reassuring people that the chances of dying from a brain-eating amoeba are very, very small. The statement comes after the news got out that a man returned to South Korea from a trip to Thailand and died of Naegleria fowleri, a brain-eating amoeba. The director-general of the DCD informed people that only 17 infections have been recorded in Thailand over the past 40 years, though 14 of them were deadly. I was turning left into a petrol station today from a two lane highway in Phuket , as always I checked both mirrors and in particular my left mirror to make sure I was not being undertaken from the left, and to be sure a farang going at speed on a motorbike decided to undertake me, I stopped and let him pass before completing the turn.

I wonder how many accidents are caused by this move?

Later on there was an ambulance and crew in the middle of the road attending to a body laid out in the street, a motorcycle and a car were involved in an accident.

So the least of our worries should be a brain eating amoeba but a brain dead type of driving/riding style.
