Soidog Posted December 23, 2022 #267505 Share Posted December 23, 2022 Sad that Asian countries need to be encouraged by the UN to save peoples life. I don’t know how people can just turn their back on desperate people in so much need. 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/20238-news-forum-un-urges-asian-countries-to-save-starving-rohingyas-adrift-at-sea/#findComment-267505 Share on other sites

Asian countries do not have bottomless purses and they have their own homeless and destitute that should be a priority over anyone else. If you want to throw this back on Myanmar, first ask why they would assist a group that wants to usurp the country's doctrine and have a history of killing Buddhist monks and citizens. India and Pakistan have enough to build nuclear arsenals, yes? Asian countries include China and South Korea. Let them contribute some aid money ok? Did you know that most of the UN budget comes from western countries? Russia and China and the pasrasitic anti west bloc contribute well below what they should. So when you say UN should pick up expenses for this, it is same as USA and western countries & Japan should pay. To that I say no. This is Asia problem Let Asia countries and their darling hero China take care of it. 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/20238-news-forum-un-urges-asian-countries-to-save-starving-rohingyas-adrift-at-sea/#findComment-267583 Share on other sites

China? like they look after their own moslems? RIGHT! How about getting the oil-rich Saudis to step up and fund their entire removal back to the islamic 'homeland' and rid the area of an insurrectionist group that aren't wanted. I agree this is the responsibility of Myanmar or more specifically, the ruling Junta. But these are desperate people and safe countries in the region need to step in and provide the basics in life until it is safe for them to return. Malaysia in particular needs to step up but so too does Thailand. As a middle income country it can and should assist. Ramanathan.P Posted December 25, 2022 #267774 Share Posted December 25, 2022 Malaysia was very kind to accommodate them. But eventually they started causing havoc. They were employed by many so that they can earn a living. Few years back all the Rohingyas working in the Central Market which is the major distribution of the hub and started fighting back with the locals who were doing business there. Basically they started to behaving like a local gangster. They went to the extent of warning the locals not to invade them as that Central Market belongs to them. They also demanded that they be given all the benefits as locals. It is there locals realize that these guys are causing a pain in the butt. Even many locals rented their apartment for Rohingyas to stay. But they abuse it. They started rearing goats inside the apartment. They even protest in big groups against the government in the centre of the city demanding they be given citizen ship. Enough is enough. An immigrant is only an immigrant and he/she will be always treated as such as they have to know their place. The same is happening in Bangladesh. The locals are not happy with their behaviour. You could just as easily be describing many towns and cities across Europe. It staggers me the way refugees and illegal immigrants “Demand” their rights when a country has been generous enough to provide safety and shelter. We Europeans go to live in Thailand. Respect the laws and don’t expect 1 baht from the authorities. Still treated worse than an illegal migrant when it comes to reporting and tracking. 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/20238-news-forum-un-urges-asian-countries-to-save-starving-rohingyas-adrift-at-sea/#findComment-267794 Share on other sites

Then ask yourself why anyone would take people who want to do anything to usurp local authority. I am not prepared to give them the time of day. 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/20238-news-forum-un-urges-asian-countries-to-save-starving-rohingyas-adrift-at-sea/#findComment-267824 Share on other sites
