This could be bad news for many of us. All along I’ve been concerned what this may mean to “normal & legit” people. Look at any process or policy devised by Thai authorities. Every man and his dog seem to use it as an opportunity to make political capital. Who knows where this may lead? Right now it’s focusing on people who enter on business or study visas. What if this was to result in extension to Non-O on the basis of retirement, changed to included a requirement to have health insurance as it does for Non-OA?

Study has long been a dodgy area, not just in Thailand - less than scrupulous educational establishments helping people who would not otherwise qualify for visas or extensions happens in the UK as well, and almost certainly in quite a few other countries.

No mention of any review of the criteria for extensions based on retirement or Thai spouse.

Since 2018 bar stool talk has been predicting rises to the financial requirements, or mandatory health insurance requirements, which is just complete speculation.

I agree Faz, it’s just speculation. My point is though, that any review or attention to existing rules may result in a more stringent criteria to qualify. Let sleeping dogs lie is my preferred option when it comes to Thai Immigration.
