About 25 tonnes of meat, worth about five million baht, intended for barbecues may now end up being cooked in a burn pit instead. Chon Buri authorities raided an illegal meat processing plant yesterday and impounded 25 tonnes of cow and pig offal along with other meats. The factory was at the Si Racha district of the eastern province. The Livestock Development Department uncovered the illegal stash in over 50 containers stashed in a makeshift production facility. It can be but it is also used in the food industry as a preservative and disinfectant. It is also used in medicines and even cosmetics. 

I guess it depends on how strong the solution was as to whether it is fit for human consumption.

I try not to eat meat in Thailand. I will occasionally eat chicken, but certainly not local pork or beef. Their animal welfare is appalling and I’m sure many illegal and disgusting slaughter houses exist. I’ll stick to fish thanks.

Yes, or can stick to outlets that have a heck of a lot to lose, like BigC or Lotus, not the "barbecue shops" or street food suppliers.
