Ardern's Covid legacy - rampant Meth addiction and serious crime in New Zealand

Most countries are suffering the legacy of Covid, none moreso than little old New Zealand.  Prime Minister Jacinta Ardern's (pic below) Labour government policies and lockdowns during the pandemic have exacerbated drug abuse and crime, particularly among youths, to a point where many consider crime out of control.

I note that Australia's 501 deportation measures have also contributed to Meth production and distribution with an ever growing Bikie gang presence, although they tend to shoot each other rather than innocent citizens.

Ram raids by under 18 y/o teenagers occur daily, especially in Auckland, fueled by inadequate laws (no juvenile punishment), poor education, lack of employment, and drug use.  Under 18's, some as young as 13 - 14 engage in car theft and ram raid stores to thieve goods.  If caught, as many are, Police are unable to give any more than a hard talking to the perpetrators who are often put up to these crimes by low-life parents.

Meth, or crystal meth, ice, and yaba, is causing huge social problems in Thailand also but New Zealand's current Government is failing in many other ways and and tourism will suffer for many years.

Airfares are so high I've read of returning Expats paying ridiculous sums (~nz$7k) for a homebound seat and even domestic fares are well over the top.

One might expect a Government and its own(ed) airline to do more to encourage visitors but Ardern would rather waste funds on hand-outs to minority groups, including Bikie gangs, or throw millions at unwarranted indigenous schemes.

As to attracting tourists ... AirNewZealand, the flag carrier of NZ, and one of very few International carriers is in turmoil with services so poor I am disgusted and ashamed, never to fly with them again.

Change will occur and likely only when a new Government is elected next year, but the damage to NZ is severe and will require massive funding and harsh laws to turn-around.  Chris Luxon, if you read this ... you've got my vote for PM, go hard on law and order please.
