“Fake” seed has been blamed for Thailand’s embarrassing second place in last week’s international rice Olympiad in Phuket. Following national humiliation at the hands of Cambodian farmers, a government investigation into the disaster blamed “fake seed” for the disgrace. So funny 😂😂😂. I love watching the Thais lose face. Like a bunch of 4 year olds. Utterly pathetic. They can’t see the irony in that their reaction is the real loss of face.

Farmers usually don't want to save seed as it's subject to genetic drift.  Saving seed is a last resort because eventually, traits will change.  This is why seed providers are so popular in the west.  Yes it's more expensive but you're guaranteed quality, and usually covered by some sort of warranty and/or insurance if anything doesn't sprout right.
