Thai police are searching for the driver of a BMW who killed a homeless man in a hit-and-run in Bangkok, Thailand, yesterday. At 11pm, officers from Bang Khun Thian Police Station received a report of a fatal car crash on the outbound Ekachai Road Soi 76 in Bangkok’s Bang Bon district. Police found the body of 52 year old Boonsri Phunamdee lying dead in the far right lane of the road with wounds on his head, face and right hand. "BMW driver kills homeless man in hit-and-run in Bangkok"

Just reading the headline causes a foul burn in the stomach as the almost certain injustice begins to unfold.

"Police found the body of 52 year old Boonsri Phunamdee lying dead in the far right lane of the road with wounds on his head, face and right hand. Bags containing his clothes and belongings were strewn across the road near his body."

Reading further, one gets a sense of a life destroyed and scattered across the road, but that nothing more will come of it.

"Wirat said he slowed down when he saw Boonsri crossing the road with his belongings. Suddenly, a white BMW XI, Bangkok registration, came fast down the right lane and hit Boonsri. Wirat said two more cars drove over his body."

A white Beamer, no doubt driven by a wealthy, connected Bangkokian takes the life, but adding insult to injury, another two cars drive over the body.

"Wirat said the BMW driver drove off after the crash. Wirat said he has a dashcam so he decided to chase the BMW in hopes of catching his registration plate number...

...Police haven’t yet identified the BMW driver but are using his car registration to track him down. He will be prosecuted according to the law, said police."

Congrats to the Good Samaritan who chased the BMW driver and seemingly got a license plate number: it is the one detail in this story that holds out some hope for humanity.

Does anyone think that the driver of a white BMW is going to go to jail for 'Hit and Run'/Vehicular Manslaughter of a homeless guy? Does anyone think the driver will "be prosecuted according to the law"? Does anyone think there will be Justice?

I don't.

I strongly suspect that this is the last we ever hear of the tale.

Probably not. But a X1 is just a 2.5 million baht car. That does not need very influential or rich people, just a 4 years down payment contract.

As much chance as me winning the lottery. Can't work out if the driver would be a police doctor or a high-up in Red Bull. Either way, the arrogance of the killer will surely result in the murder being swept under the carpet.
