We’re meant to be traveling to north Thailand in August. We’re expats that live in Samui. We can’t get information on what is going to happen with the ‘sandbox’ here and if we will have issues coming backu to Samui. We aren’t vaccinated. Does anyone know if we will run into issues returning from Chiang Mai on a flight back to Samui (our home)?  Thanks in advance for any insights.

You should probably assume that you will have problems, it will be an epic clusterf*ck, and always plan with the least amount of functionality expectations.

Hello and welcome to ThaigerTalk.

The Covid zoning situation is very fluid and can change any day.  You will need to check what zoning applies each end, prior to travel.

EG: Currently, unvaccinated Chiang Mai arrivals from highest risk zones are being PCR tested at the airport and required to enter 14 days isolation.

CM may currently be open to all Samui arrivals but I don't know the requirements for return to Samui.  By August, if say CM were to be classed as a high risk zone you may find yourself having to self isolate upon return home.  Pain in the proverbial planning domestic travel!
