News Forum - Thai police admit extorting money from Taiwanese actress
I don’t think corruption is something which is purely a Thai problem and never said that. Of course other countries have corruption. I’d say ALL countries have corruption. The value in terms of dollars is not the point. You can’t equate a single multi-million dollar back handed in the US with the daily corruption which blights the life’s of every citizen in Thailand. It’s where the corruption takes place in society that impacts it so much. If you stop and think about the impact this has in Thai people, it impacts everything in their life. From a fair proportion of their tax going in to private bank accounts all the way to holding back the education of their children. I don’t understand why when people discuss a topic such as Thai police corruption, the defence is well look over there. It’s also happening there. -

Well, in the West, corruption is clinical. It is only whether we want to engage with that particular party or politician. Remember, that the Democrat Party used to be the party to go to by David Duke (a KKK scion) and his merrymen in Louisiana? And still many people are discounting that Hunter Biden has nothing to do with the Biolabs in Ukraine. If you look closely, it's in the details. -

News Forum - Thailand’s Tourism Authority reminds visitors of current anti-smoking laws
I would like to remember that places like Nana Plaza or Patpong are private adult venues, no underage gusts allowed. The non smoking law does only apply partially in the open. They are not sport activity place or a kids playground. banning smoking inside the gogo bars will also ban the high spending customer from China and Japan. they are the big spender there not the "farangs" tourists. For those East Asian countries smoking + drinking = fun. Fun = spending money and counting as long as the fun in great and lasts long. The bar "employees" are professional in treating these guests very well and giving them a lot fun. And btw it smoking or not in there does not affect you as you do not frequent those places -

Yes the topic is about more flight. But in my opinion, this is a bad ide looking to encourage more flights from the KSA. However. It seems we need to agree to disagree. Your view of encouraging repressive regimes by allowing their citizen to have a normal life and mine, are at opposite ends of the spectrum. The whole point about different countries requiring varying visa requirements, all the way to imposing travel bans, is how you signal diplomatically to countries like the KSA
