in nepal the male elephants raid the camps where the females are and take them, there is little that can be done.  Elephants ive heard spend 80% of their days eating which is one argument why these camps are cruel... as they are painting or playing football instead and then get fed sugarcane most of the time.

Frankly if theres a field full of tasty high calorie crops id expect them to be eaten .. perhaps a low yield electric fence .. or a deep trench around the fields?  or some sort of sonic deterrent?

Be inventive
