Six police officers were arrested in Songkhla, accused of dereliction of duty and soliciting bribes from a drug dealer. The officers included the Rattaphum Deputy District Chief along with five drug enforcement officers. They turned themself in after a warrant was issued for their arrest. The charges come after a 35 year old drug dealer was arrested on Monday and evidence pointed at communication between him and the Phikhat Phairi drug squad. Thailand’s National Police Chief reported that the district chief and five members of the drug squad have been questioned by Songkhla Police already and confessed to soliciting bribes. […]

Of COURSE they were model officers prior to this bust. Of COURSE they had no experience trying to extort money and drugs from an arrested dealer; they just jumped in at the deep end quite innocently and thought they were doing a public service by draining his money and taking the drugs off the street, never to be seen again... and they are Drug Squad?

Another article mentions police bribery and corruption in Pattaya, but it isn't an indication of corruption at the very top and trickling downwards in RTP.
