Drivers were understandably miffed as a huge traffic jam built up when the Krungthep Bridge in Bangkok opened to let a boat through. It is common for the bridge to open a handful of times each month, but usually to let through a big vessel belonging to the Royal Thai Navy. Possibly. Escaping Putin or bringing lots of well-stuffed brown envelopes from Putin? Or maybe some of the super wealthy tourists that are going to come flooding into the country - so the TAT keep telling everyone.

You all don't get it. The superyacht industry in Thailand gives jobs to thousands and thousands of people, including myself. That particular yacht, whether Russian or not (trust me, not all of them are Russian owned) probably just underwent a massive refit in Bangkok Dock, one of the oldest in Thailand and the only one in the heart of Bangkok (all others are down in Samut Prakan). She's not the only yacht that recently left that dock and for which the bridge had to be risen. The last one I know of was a 40+ meter "Feadship" that was definitely not Russian owned. So instead of complaining, just think about all the Thai families that are being fed by the marine industry!
