A philanthropic British man and his Thai wife donated 50,000 baht to support the victims of the daycare centre massacre in the northeastern province of Nong Bua Lamphu. Now this might be abusingthe meaning of this word. I will step out and say hardly philanthropic, but perhaps fame and pat on the back grabbing. Do something nice without wanting recognition.
