An officer posed as a customer and lured the owners of the bar into offering the child sex service and arrested the two bar owners, a 43 year old Thai woman and her 60 year old American husband, when they were trying to clinch the deal.

The police conducted a further investigation and arrested two more suspects who had sex with the underage girls, a 49 year old American man and a 55 year old German man.

Ah the usual suspects... enemies during WW2 but friends during underage sex procurement

Every nation on earth has its fair share of beasts. To somehow suggest the US and Germany has more is both highly misleading and offensive to the vast majority of the people from those countries.

So not the usual suspects at all.

"The two foreigners were charged under Section 277 of the Criminal Law related to rape: having sexual intercourse with a girl aged over 15 years old, but less than 18 years old, who is not a wife, whether such a girl consents or not. The two face imprisonment of four to 20 years and a fine of 8,000 to 40,000 baht."

I hope and pray that they get the 20 years rather than the 4 that should ensure they are never seen again! I REALLY hope their governments do not intervene to get their sentences served in their home countries.

This will put a crimp in the Mayor's family friendly image of Pattaya. In all seriousness, there should be a special place under the jail for these types of scum.

The rapists probably won’t do more than 2 years after a guilty plea. Any punishment is for EACH instance of the offense and is typically served non concurrently (consecutive).  For example: the bar owners/pimps - 8 underage girls x min. of 6 years = 48 years / 2 for guilty plea = 24 years (plus whatever else the RTP charge them with). And Thai jails don’t segregate sex offenders from the general population and inmates don‘t give them the beatings they deserve. So perhaps send the pimps home after 1/3 served to finish the balance in a less “friendly” environment.

Going back 30 years my Thai BiL worked for a well known financial company.

On occasions the manager used to arrange parties for the higher ranking male staff, the main attraction was that it involved under age girls arranged via agents.

I`ve no doubts this is still happening today with people that have connections and we never get to hear about.

My questions are: where do they find these under age girls? Are these homeless children, do the families including parents help supply these kids to the s*x industry?

Regardless, it`s all a sordid state of affairs and sickening.

Hmm those laws in Thailand  are more strict than in most European countries. In Europe it is legal to have sex with any person aged 16 or older. But only if they both want it. Paying for it makes it illegal. Under 16 is no-go.  But what if one is 17 and the other 15?

These guys were stupid. They should have picked girls 18+. Still too young for them, but at least legal. Now they have a big problem.

Sadly there is an underground organization of predators that somehow get access to children all over the world. I’d like to congratulate the Pattaya police and their undercover sting operation. Hoping the laws in Thailand make examples of all those involved with stiff prison sentences, seizing all those convicted financial assets and shutting their business down.

Thank you

Marvin

Let's hope there is no buying their way out of this situation.  Low lifes like this never stop offending . Prison then deportation for the men and lengthy prison  time for the women and and other Thais involved hopefully

Absolute rubbish...

And if I'm wrong and you're right, you should inform the police of your evidence

Thirty years ago, quite a few, but far from every - these days (yes, OK, I don't spend a lot of time in bars these days), very few. The streets of Pattaya being thronged with hordes of pedophiles is a myth propagated by the NGO's looking for their next handout. Not to say it doesn't happen, and anyone involved should be locked up and the key thrown away.
