Sounds like some free fun. Pay 500 baht, but dont drink more than 2 or 3 glasses. And enjoy the contest. Perhaps they serve free snacks? Or there are pretty drunk girls?

  1. Contestants can drink any brand of rice whiskey 40 proof or higher, from 6pm to midnight.

40 proof is pretty low for distilled alcoholic drinks.

I would have thought that most rice whiskeys were at least 80.

I guess you haven't tried Lao Khao yet? It's ok. Kind of like Japanese Sake if i was to compare. I was excited about this contest at first. I hoped it would be "drink all the Johnny Walker Black" you can in six hours for 500 baht 😄🥃🥴

35% (35 degree) is the local preference and they get totally smashed on that.

A lot die young also. Neighbour asked the personal age question, told him my age and he told me his.

Shocked is the only word I can say on hearing his age 51. Looks older than me by a big margin I'm 71.

His wife chimed in with "you handsome man" but think she was eyeing my wallet at the time.🤣
