News Forum - Anutin aims to clarify cannabis reform bill, not recriminalise it

Critics say that the current cannabis laws have led to a raft of abuse of the plant, but Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul insists that no proof has been shown of any improper use. He fought back against the call to reclassify specific parts of the cannabis plant as an illegal narcotic. Decriminalisation did not include a lot of caveats and has led to rushed attempts at passing further legislation to more strictly regulate cannabis for medicinal purposes and not for recreational use. A petition on Change.org has garnered signatures from 1,363 doctors who caution that the lax law […]

The bill is just fine, but there is one thing tho. They are giving the license to literally anyone and that is wrong.

Weed is being sold in a baby clothing shop, by people who dont even know what it is. That is just wrong. Little control over who is selling it would be a good idea.

Originally a plot to lure tens of thousands of “pot-heads”. to Thailand to help boost tourism and economic recovery.  But golly-gee let’s not  let the world think Thailand’s a den for adult entertainment and wild parties. No the Full Moon parties are just a bunch of fun loving kids enjoying nature.   Hypocrisy and the government are Conjoined at the hip.

We haven’t seen any negative impact that is beyond our control.”

If you walk around with your eyes shut you definitely will not see anything negative.

Fact of human anatomy- eyes are shut you see nothing --- except that continuous movie "Back of the Eye lids". Watch it every night, generally a good show.🤣

There are rules which prevent cannabis smoking in public, and sales are restricted to individuals over the age of 20.

As is the case in numerous other countries---- means diddly squat.

Here they will break this rule the same as they do of most rules in this country.

Street racing is illegal, riding a bike without a licence (some only 12 years old or less) drinking under age --- the list is virtually endless but Anut thinks they will abide by no smoking cannabis in public.

Anut you are seriously out of touch with reality.

Get down out of that ivory tower (your company probably built for you--- before it falls down) and find reality.

Even before it was legalised it was easy to buy weed as long as you have a few Thai friends. Been to Thailand 4 times now and each time it was very easy for me to get hold of some compressed thai stick. It's all about who you know. On Ko Pha Ngan I could go to the Amsterdam bar and buy pre-rolled joints and magic mushroom milkshakes. But I do agree that licenses should only be given to people that know what they are doing, know the difference between Indica and Sativa, can teach people which strain will have which effects including the medicinal uses, has a good understanding of hybrid strains too. As long as kids and pregnant women are not allowed to buy it I dont see the issue.. Alcohol is a bigger killer than weed is though. Leave the stoners alone.
