[UPDATE: After just one day of opening, the skywalk over the River Kwai has been closed already. It seems that having a glass-bottom allows for spectacular views but also requires special shoes not to damage the bridge, and they were in short supply. All visitors are required to purchase these special shoes and wear them when walking across the skywalk. The Kanchana Buri Municipality issued an apology for closing just one day after opening. Is it just me who thinks that that is a really ugly structure and a blemish on the landscape?

So they know the maximum number of people they are going to allow on the bridge per day, know its likely to be popular at first opening and don't have enough special shoes to cover more than the first days running?

Why rush to open ahead of schedule if you're not actually prepared? No doubt someone low down the food chain will get blamed even though this is clearly a failure in management.
