The CCP are paranoid. They are also the masters of brainwashing, pre-schoolers reciting the thoughts of Chairman Xi. By age seven they are his. 

When it falls apart by the end of this decade, it will take generations to get people back on a track of independent thought. 

Imagine all of China run like independent Hong Kong or modern Taiwan, it would be an amazing place.
