An irrigation official in Thailand’s central province of Pathum Thani has been transferred from his regular work after floods wreaked havoc on Rangsit district this week. The official, Bowdaeng Takaew, is the director of the Southern Rangsit Operation and Maintenance Project. The reason for Bowdaeng’s transfer hasn’t yet been specified, but it is believed that the transfer is due to the project’s failure leading to heavy flooding. The water level in the Rangsit Prayunsak has now slightly dropped, but patches of flooding remain. You should know how it works by now old mate - a city department official becomes the Government fall-guy when there's only the Government or natural causes to blame. 

In both Rangsit and Pathum Thani the flooding (supposedly "fixed" by recent drainage works) overwhelmed the usual low lying areas as drains, khlongs, and the river couldn't take any more run-off. 

Wait for the next round ... there's a massive flow of water headed toward Bangkok now and it's still raining in the North and Central regions.  They'll run out of RID Managers to transfer before this is over.
