It’s interesting to see the countries greasing up to the Russians. In this case it’s all about money and not what’s morally right. Russia isn’t a friend to Thailand. They just want to offload their exports because the sanctions are hurting. As with all authoritarian countries there always conditions to trade and finance.

Why do I get the feeling this article is clickbait?

Who these tinpot fake valour Dinosaurs cosy up to doesn't really matter, they're a sideshow in geopolitics. Maybe a refueling stop, but that's about it.

Thailand sees the opportunity to bag some cheap oil. As do many other countries.

The issue will be getting it here.

All these "neutral" countries will of course pursue an agenda which suits their purposes which is quite right. That is right up to the point where the USA picks up the phone and says "You know that humanitarian aid we send you and the preferential trade deal you have with us? Well it might be stopping soon".

By not condemning Russia's aggression in Ukraine it could be argued they are NOT being neutral but rather condoning this war for economic consideration. To quote   "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" .

Thailand is a large net exporter of food and they will certainly draw lots of benefits from being given continueed access to fertilizers and agricultural accessiories from Russia along with energy. '

Their stance in the conflict between the West and Russia is to stay away from it. The "those not with us are against us" words of GWB are as meaningless today as at that time.

And there is something else too. Why would Thailand support those entities that (very likely) is backing with indirect or direct support groups that want to undermine the monarchy and breed "color revolution"?

Thailand does not desire to worsen their own situation to help one side win. For the most Thailand remains unaligned and strong, which also is in accordance with their history of not having been colonized by teh West. Again, the legacy of Western colonization is an ugly one and it remains very ignorant to be so dismissive about it.

And what groups would they be and do you have evidence for this?

Thailand was not colonized because no-one wanted it.

While we are on the subject of colonization, as a Scot I would like Norway to apologize for its illegal annexation of the Shetlands, Orkney and the Hebrides. I would also like some financial compensation due to the mass murder of the indigenous population.

Thanking you in advance.

In times of hardship it is always nice when your real friends stand up. I'm sure Putin will appreciate this.

So what real friends does Putin have?

I suspect Putin has quite a number of 'friends'. They are usually referred to as 'Yes Men'. They get their hands soiled on Putin's behalf. It's either that or they tend to 'disappear.

He's running short although I believe that there's one or two left who haven't dived out of upper floor windows for fun ;-)

There needs to be a clear line and sanctions for countries that continue to support Russia. You want want to be their partner you have clearly chosen a side

Or you have no alternative? Using your logic  the low income countries that rely on Russia for cheap grain and fertilizer should be sanctioned? And most of Europe that relies on Russian gas should also be sanctioned? And China should be sanctioned because their ties with Russia are getting stronger by the month? And India who buys Russian oil should be sanctioned? Do the sums and you’ll see that just those 4 places contain over half the world’s population. Good luck with your sanctions crusade.
