Which ever way you chose to look at it over 80% of the Russian population approve of Putins invasion of Ukraine and that must include murdering and raping of Ukrainian civilians.

If I were a Russian I would be too embarrassed to leave my country, but many are still going on holiday to foreign climes and to add insult to injury there are some that even wear or display the symbols of the war in Ukraine. So either they are very arrogant, very uncaring or not very bright, which one would you chose.

In August 2022, over 80 percent of Russians approved of activities of the Russian President Vladimir Putin. The popularity level saw an increase during the Russian invasion of Ukraine that started at the end of February 2022.

Welcome to the black-and-white world my friend.

In DPRK nearly 100% support Kim Jong Un's actions. People there are pure evil, right?

Or maybe there is something wrong with statistics in authoritarian countries?

What has statistics got to do with displaying symbols of murder on one's vehicles or person.

Are you sure these are the symbols of murder for them? And how many people actually put such stickers on their cars/clothes?

If Russian military vehicles are displaying these symbols whilst murdering Ukrainians in Ukraine, I think it would be fair to say it is not likened to the White Dove of peace.

Any war can be presented as a peacekeeping mission, and if there aren't those who say otherwise, then the government has complete control over the flow of information.

Calling the Russo-Ukrainian conflict the war runs the risk of ending up in prison for many years.

Your opinion has been shaped by the media and social networks, mine too, theirs too. Just different sources and coverage.

You are talking nonsense and you are telling me how my opinion has been shaped without even knowing me. What I do know is that Russia invaded Ukraine and started killing Ukrainians for no other reason but to land grab and to satisfy the ego of the Russian President and if you think that is fine, well count me out, I don't need lecturing about justifying the killing of innocent people. On ignore.

Oh well Thailand will welcome them as long as they bring dollars, not their own rubbles 😊

But better make sure they do not come in their own airplanes. Dont think it will be very safe for those to land and take off. Considering the lack of maintenance. Thai authorities wouldnt like a plane full of Russians to explode in one of their airports

I was born in Ukraine and lived 30 years in Russia so I know what I'm talking about.

And now you're talking about one man's ambition and his war. But let me remind you that your original post was full of hatred for the entire population of Russia.

And if it's not so obvious, I don't condone war in my home country. I just can't. And I will never justify the attacks on innocent people on both sides.

Russian travellers have ritually sought out islands in the tropical sun since the demolition of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Hellbent on escaping bitterly cold winters, these snowbirds in the lead-up years to the pandemic became the second largest international source market for Phuket’s mass market tourism surge.

The sanctions has left Russia with tons of natural gas and resources to keep the country warm. The snowbirds can stay at home. Unless you want a cold welcome in other parts of the world.

As someone who, if not regularly, at least often, am with Russians and visit Russia, I see little of the paintings of "abject poverty" and I have been a few places. Yes, the kids there do not eat Mc Donalds every morning and neither do adult men spend most on their time on Cafe's but there is little of no homelessness and the day-to-day of most people is fine.

The West often uses the GDP concept to portray Russia as so poor, while PPP (purchasing power parity) makes it one of the top nations of the world, even on CIA 2020 data.

Otherwise, if you take a look at the AVERAGE Russian woman and the AVERAGE woman of the West (not speaking of Thai women obviously), there is no comparison. You have to look a lot to see land whales whether in Moscow or Murmansk and they tend to dress very well even if they don't spend thousands on makeup and clothes every week.

With regards to gap between wealthy and not, I think there is a larger gap between the Hollywood nobility and the homeless that live a few kilometers away from the Hollywood mansions.

With regards to Thailand I think we see increasingly more Russians able to go there and when flights resume from Moscow to BKK that remain very reasonable we will see that.

Honestly,  no one cares unless someone put Z-symbol or Russian flag on their clothes/car/belongings/etc. Especially in Asia, but i didn't see the problem in EU either.

In general, I don't see hatred in my country (Germany) or outside of it. Only the rare people who are looking for someone to blame for their country's problems (e.g. inflation, gas prices).

So what's the "cold welcome " is?

There is no debating the merits of a senseless invasion and a lunatic ego manic Putin... Privileged Russians inability to briefly holiday in the tropics is of zero importance to the world at large. For me personally, I only feel schadenfreude for the elites predicament 🤷 For those less fortunate Russians wishing to denounce and immigrate elsewhere, I only wish them luck.

Comparing Pattaya to Soweto is stupid beyond words. That stupidity destroys any credibility the post had.

When's the last time you were in Soweto? There are some decent hotels like the 4 star convention center hotel. it sits next to the immense  Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve, has some renowned museums, many cultural displays and some surprising well kept green spaces. Unlike Pattaya it has a  world class  roller coaster (the Tower of Terror) and a casino. Soweto's version of Central is the Maponya Mall.  Not my idea of a vacation spot, but not the dusty  township of 25 years ago either.
