"The proposed deal includes a radar system to track incoming strikes and anti-ship and anti-air missiles.

It comes after US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi last month became the most senior US official in 25 years to visit Taipei.

The Chinese embassy in Washington called on the US to revoke the deal or face "counter-measures".

Spokesman Liu Pengyu said the deal "severely jeopardises" relations between Washington and Beijing."

Does this mean that China will make a move on Taiwan, or is the US just being cautious; & a lot of money?

Time will tell ....

Just more knee-jerk thinking from the Hegemon. China was upset last week? Well, let's send some weapons today and keep looking at a high-powered magnification.

Meanwhile, it is less than 7 years until Taiwan will be fully reintegrated in China. Probably the main reason why the latest military tech will not be shipped now.

This brings to about $2 Bn in purchases authorised by Biden. The Trump administration authorised about £17.5Bn in purchases. When you look at other purchases in the last few years, you can only conclude that China needs to wind its neck in a bit. China criticises the US for supplying weapons to Taiwan, while at the same time it has vastly increased sales to the Middle East and South West Asia, prinicipally Pakistan, so it could be argued that China is interfering in a dispute between India and Pakistan (over Kashmir). Its also actively supplying Saudi Arabia and the UAE, along with many others, and these weapons have been used in Libya and Yemen. They are also destabilizing the Balkans by arming Serbia.

Note, not costing the US a penny. Taiwan is buying the systems, not being given them. It sounds like a lot of money, but its a pretty routine purchase.

A comprehensive list:

I bet after each purchase, China  had a hissy fit. Its an old country, with much heritage and indeed wisdom. But they do act like babies at times.
