The director of the Centre for Climate Change and Disaster at Rangsit University, Dr. Seree Supharathit, pointed out that international climate change organisations have made a map showing that Bangkok and its area will sink and disappear by  the year 2100. He said that if the government doesn’t do anything to prevent this, then it must prepare to move the capital. Dr. Seree noted that Thailand will have more rainfall from September to November, and the Meteorological Department has forcasted that two to three tropical storms could hit the […]

The idea of new capital away from Bangkok has been kicked about for years.

Feel sure all the potential areas have been scoped and tactical land purchases have already happened.

Personally think the should move it to Issan, save all the bar girls a fortune on travel going home to visit family.

They will not let Bangkok go under. But first need to get these regime bozos out from ongoing control. Now that is where the sinking ship is at. Need smarter and more genuine folk at the helm who know how to change things and get things done.

I am old enough to remember the talk about new ice age in 100 years. I believe it was said in the early 80's.

Something happens to people when they become a politician or tenured academic. In both cases, they see to be losing their minds lots of the time.

Meanwhile, the Rhine is drying up and German warships from WW2 are discovered in Donau.

True. But Jakarta's problem is that the city is built on a swampy delta. To keep the houses dry, and the roads accessible for cars they started pumping the water away. Which caused the ground level to sink. Which caused more watery problems so they pumped even harder. Basically, the more they pump the deeper the city sinks. The water doesnt come much higher than it came 50 years ago but the city lies deeper now. To the people it seems like flooding but it really is a sinking of the city.

You can add the weight of the skyscrapers, and the rising of the sea levels. An occasional storm in combination with high tide. It all adds up to a modern equivalent of Atlantis. But in slow motion.

I guess the situation in Bangkok is similar. But according to that professor Bangkok still has 50 years to think of a cunning plan.

Meanwhile be careful when buying real estate 😊
