A Thai man who tried to starve his mother to death in the hope of getting her inheritance was found dead yesterday in the family home in Isaan of Buriram province. It is believed he died of Tuberculosis. The mother has not had any food for 3 to 4 days and the son has been dead for about the same number of days. How can it be letting the mother to starve to dead to acquire her property?......something did not make sense at all...

Just to make some sense of it:

  1. Apart from the fact that Thai (rural) tap-water can be very nutritious (many organisms) and be full of essential minerals (iron, calcium, etc.), the son probably provided a paltry amount of food in addition to that.
  2. Inheritance law.
