Police in Maha Sarakham province in northeast Thailand arrested a man yesterday for selling Yaba (“crazy drug”) – branded methamphetamine pills cut with caffeine – to teenagers in Kantharawichai district. Turns out the drug dealer is an undercover policeman. Doesnt look like he still was an active undercover cop. Or even a cop.

He was right about one thing though, there is a lot of profit in this business. Buy for 30, sell for 50. Last year 1 billion pills were seized, most likely 10 times or more were produced. And of course production costs will be like 5-10 baht per pill. All adds up to roughly 5 billion US dollar profit, for both the producers and the resellers.

A spy.. how cute. That normally means he was a drug user & seller allowed to continue selling as long as he handed over his monthly quota of low level dealers. 8 years with police protection = he sold a lot of gear.
