Health officials have identified 19 high-risk people who came in close contact with the man and have now tested all of them for monkeypox. Results are still pending, according to the Phuket Provincial Health chief, but specimens have been sent to the lab for testing. They expect all 19 pending specimens to have results within 3 days, but they have so far received two tests […]

The minister said that travellers from high-risk countries do not need to be blocked, but that screening and monitoring regulations similar to what was used for Covid-19 should be put in place.

Only a matter of time then... negative monkey pcr 72h before departure, monkey insurance etc etc.

If he arrived 8 months ago, and got monkeypox 3-4 weeks ago, he was infected IN Thailand. So it is just a matter of waiting for new cases to pop up.

Hopefully soon, Thailand will not allow idiots like you to even enter based on your comments.

Keep living in your unscientific, social media taught world and pray that mamma lets you stay in the basement with free internet so you can keep posting nonsense

You obviously fail to see some sarcasm.

You also seem to miss the fact that the guy was infected IN Thailand. He arrived 8 months ago, monkeypox has an incubation time of 3-4 weeks. So, he wasn't the first case in Thailand. The officials may have tested all (?) of HIS contacts since HE was infected but I do not think they tested the contacts of the one who gave him the virus. So, whether you like it or not, there is monkeypox in Thailand now. The reaction of the government might well be the re-introduction of screenings, Thailandpass, PCR tests, plus insurance. No mask of course, but perhaps an advice to use a condom when meeting a bargirl. Or ladyboy. In one of the articles here something of this was already mentioned as an 'advice' from a certain Anutin. He didn't mention the condoms though. The sad fact is that you already HAVE monkeypox in Thailand now so these measures (except the condom one) will not help.

From a viewpoint of health issues monkeypox is not really dangerous. Although it can be annoying and painful (in rare cases). In terms of fatalities a common cold, or common flu is far more deadly. But monkeypox is mainly transmitted sexually. As we all know, most tourists come to Thailand for the beaches, the food etcetera. Only a few come for the adult entertainment business. But if word spreads that monkeypox is on the loose in Thailand then the adult industry might have a problem.

Wonder why he felt the need to leave the hospital to the point of entering Cambodia illegally.

Good question, it does seem extreme or bizarre.

Start of brainwashing the people... until they speak out the real news of limitations etc. Monkeypox is not in the first place deadly and should not make the news with overreacting  news from the government, what they probably going to do anyway... by the way the only monkeypox I see are the people in the government
