Thaiger Posted July 19, 2022 #232291 Share Posted July 19, 2022 While it was entirely predictable, Thailand rejoiced at the chance to get away for a 5-day weekend, ignoring warnings from medical professionals, and now the country is seeing a spike in new and serious Covid-19 infections. The Department of Disease Control released figures showing that the number of people infected with severe Covid cases that require ventilators is rising again. Fatalities from the virus have also increased. Doctors and other medical and governmental authorities warned people against travelling last week as they foresaw throngs of people coming in and out of touristy areas in Thailand would inevitably increase the amount […] The story 5-day holiday weekend brings predictable surge in Covid-19 infections as seen on Thaiger News. Highlandman Posted July 19, 2022 #232366 Share Posted July 19, 2022 What kind of absurd propaganda is this? You gave Thais a holiday, now you blame them for taking advantage of it? Most Thais are religiously wearing their masks, many are doing ATK tests and close to half have had booster shots. If these interventions work, then why the fear mongering? Could it be that they don't work? Also, where's the "surge"? The daily numbers are still the same as they've been for the past few days running and deaths have actually decreased from a week ago. Stop this nonsense and move on already!!! We're tired of hearing about Covid. Most of the world has moved on. In Laos not even immigration officials posted to the Thai border are wearing masks anymore. 3 Quote Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/15998-news-forum-5-day-holiday-weekend-brings-predictable-surge-in-covid-19-infections/#findComment-232366 Share on other sites
Janneman Posted July 19, 2022 #232447 Share Posted July 19, 2022 Oh dear a surge! Number of people on ventilators went up from 300 to 369, number of deaths went up from 16 to 21. In a country with over 80.000.000 inhabitants. 1 Quote Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/15998-news-forum-5-day-holiday-weekend-brings-predictable-surge-in-covid-19-infections/#findComment-232447 Share on other sites

rc1 Posted July 19, 2022 #232465 Share Posted July 19, 2022 Life spreads Covid. It's very infectious. The time for preventing gatherings etc is well past. Vaccines and treatments are available, the virus is very manageable. Time to move forward. 1 Quote Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/15998-news-forum-5-day-holiday-weekend-brings-predictable-surge-in-covid-19-infections/#findComment-232465 Share on other sites
HiuMak Posted July 19, 2022 #232467 Share Posted July 19, 2022 Learn to live with the disease and deal with the numbers not rumour mongering. The numbers are never accurate in Thailand anyways. Why bother 1 Quote Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/15998-news-forum-5-day-holiday-weekend-brings-predictable-surge-in-covid-19-infections/#findComment-232467 Share on other sites
