Sri Lanka’s president Gotabaya Rajapaksa has now officially resigned, following mass protests against him. The now former president fled the country to Maldives on Wednesday, and flew from there to Singapore yesterday, an unnamed security source told CNN. After Gotabaya arrived in Singapore, parliament speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced that Gotabaya had tendered his resignation. Mahinda said the country’s PM Ranil Wickremesinghe will remain Acting President until the parliament elects a new President. Lawmakers have been summoned to meet on Saturday to start the process. Isn't that how it always is......the obvious corrupted ones are able to flee with ease, usually protected in some manner or another. 

Would have made a better story if the rebellious mobs were to have captured the extremely guilty and have their way with him.

Holy poor planning! Trying to go green in the midst of a pandemic, with no tourist revenue..... talk about bad timing.   Killed a third of the rice crop, devastated the tea harvest, even local fruits and veggies skyrocketed in price.   

 

The new guy can't be any worse.....can he?

Not sure what they celebrating looks to me it will not be over soon and it will get a lot worst before and if it gets beter

He's no Zelenskyy, no huevos here. which ever country he lands in they need to send his are back and let the people have their justice with the crook.
