bringing alcohol with you

Hi all

It seems you can only bring in 1 litre of alcohol when entering Thailand.

But I haven't been able to figure out if it is just strictly illegal or if it is possible to pay some import duty free in the customs if you bring more than 1 litre.

And how much would it be?

Anyone knows how that works?

I was thinking to bring a couple of bottles of wine on my next visit, and just found out you can't bring more than one. Good thing I didn't know about that when i last came for hotel quarantine that would have been some long dry days!

Just bring it and keep your mouth shut.  In all the years I have been coming to Thailand I have never had my bags searched.  I think the worst that could happen is they take it away and maybe a fine.

It is the fine that worries me!

But fair enough, pro'ly what i gonna do anyway!

I don't know for sure so don't take my word for it.  I just know that most expats don't seem too worried about it.
