This is the 19th time the Emergency Decree has been extended. The very existence of this illegitimate leadership infringes on our freedoms. And now we suddenly have PCR numbers, cwhich are not increasing in the latest weekly average, being joined by non PCR numbers that suddenly have been dug out of files and waved around as if they are valid when weeks ago we were told that only PCR numbers were relevant. This ruling mob are intent on keeping the state of emergency under false pretences. Just wait until mid September when we see the next excuse trotted out. The CCSA are nothing more than a state security apparatus that uses Covid as an increasingly threadbare veil for it's continuing existence.

Yes and I see no evidence they've stopped counting asymptomatic cases. Otherwise, shouldn't we be seeing low triple digit or even double digit cases like in China? The CCSA/government continue to lie, back-flip and do the same things that they have been doing since the beginning, that simply haven't worked.

The Bangkok Post indirectly implied that according to a government spokesperson, the state of emergency will still be around in November, when an APEC meeting will be held in Bangkok. The spokesperson said: "APEC member nations will understand Thailand's need to keep the state of emergency in effect". I call this a clue.

They recently extended the state of emergency covering the three southernmost border provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat for the 68th time, which has been in place since 2004.

I think that gives you an idea of what will likely happen with the Covid state of emergency.

We may be discussing this again this time next year, as my understanding covid-19 is never going away.  China, Thailand, and maybe some other countries haven’t gotten the memo yet it seems 😳

Perhaps the decree will be with us until after the elections?

Pretty much a given. And once those figures have been gilded to enhance existing junta numbers, the decree will continue. Perish the thought the public have options over their own will

This is no different to other 'free' western countries that need to cement their authority with false fear through media.

Yeah, media reports are the same as an emergency decree which curbs civil liberties.

🙄

How does the emergency decree affect us expats? I can't think of anything that I can't do. Apart from wearing masks indoors and on trains etc which seems to be a rule that can change regardless of the emergency decree (as it did for open spaces)
