Although the Patpong question if you concider nowadays could have had a different answer. It is not what is was in it's heyday. Only a sliver of it where the other answer actually is better..

I first went to Patpong in 2000 and it had already largely moved on, even then. It’s amazing how the image endures though.

If I meet fellas who’ve never been to Thailand and tell them I’m off to Bangkok for a few days, they still sometimes trot out the old “Patpong ping pong” line.

I guess it will take another generation to reform the image.

Years ago I was talking to an old British guy who told me he was in the navy when they docked in Bangkok for some reason once. He said it was 1966, his first visit to Thailand.
He went to Patpong, jiggy-jiggy cost him 10 Baht for all night.

Yeah, it sure has changed. I was there in the beginning of the 90's and it was pretty off the hook. If not mistaken, I think you can still find a Ping Pong and dart show there on the big soi Patpong 1. A few year ago me and my close Thai associate friend for a funny thing to do took 3 of my visiting American associates to Patpong and found one. OMG. I have been to a couple ping pong shows over the years but this one took the cake. This was an up the stairs place on the left after the 7-11and was just one of the most diviest (new word) of dives. One's first thought is the need of having hand wipes and a bottle of bleach. Anyway, the 2 performers were looking pretty ragged which made the show hillarious as these 2 gals were bullseye artists. They proceeded to shoot them our way but aimed at the young-buck muscle bound kid we had with us. We have never laughed so hard at seeing him get pounded and even one was a direct hit on his cheek and into his drink. The joke after leaving was thinking about taking the kid to go get a tetenas shot.

Patpong in it's glory days was a fun but could be dangerous watch yourstep jungle.
