Thailand received another boost to its tourism industry yesterday when China gave its blessing to resume flights between the two Asian nations. The gradual lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, the scrapping of the Thailand Pass, and the relaxation of mask-wearing have all been much welcomed as the kingdom fights back against two tough pandemic years. So 2 flights a week, say 400 people per week is a shot in the arm for tourism! Get real Mr Scott. You should try running a tourism related business and see how disastrous the situation really is.

When they get rid of the 'zero tolerance ' then Thailand may have something to celebrate.

According to British media reported on 27th June, China is increasing its zero covid policy in line with its 5 year policies.

Banking hopes on the Chinese in the short to medium term, does not look promising.

7 days full quarantine for arrivals (instead of 14) to China followed by another 7 days 'home' quarantine involving 3 tests. The article does indeed state that this is intended for for business people and students - but stretching beyond incredulity to suggest that this will bring anything to the Thai tourist business.

The shot in the arm is that the number has gone from zero to 200. Any progress is positive.

Well this won’t make the people at Thai tourism happy: 

Beijing Daily, the official Communist Party newspaper for the Chinese capital, earlier reported that the city's party chief, Cai Qi, said Monday that "for the next five years, Beijing will resolutely implement Covid-19 pandemic control measures and uphold the 'zero-Covid' policy to prevent imported cases from coming in and domestic cases from rebounding." The reported reference by Cai, who is a close ally of Chinese President Xi Jinping, to "the next five years"
