According to deputy police commissioner Surachate Hakpan, a.k.a ‘Big Joke’, 4 officers in the northern province took a 1 million baht bribe from a Chinese gang filming live pornography at 2 resorts. The story is not police taking bribes (which is old hat). The news is the police taking bribes getting arrested. That's progress.

Nope, it is like always: Police takes bribes but get arrested only, in case they don't share with the station:

" 4 officers in the northern province took a 1 million baht bribe from a Chinese gang filming live pornography at 2 resorts."

250k for each of these 4, instead everyone gets his part of it, at the end of the month. THAT is triggering the "bribe, bribe" alert

Don't you DARE attempt to charge the Chink with any crime! Imagine the wrath of CCP coming down on you for deigning to think you have the power to make a Chinese national lose face - thereby the whole commo country - for something he was willing to pay for!

Just these kind off arrest, "if you not play by the rule of the system, the system will kick your ars" is cementing the system, not bringing it down. It is showing others, that they have to work for and in the system.

Why don't Plod start printing photos of the arrested and show them for what they are? Instead, they will be transferred to another province.

Only way to even make a dent in Thai police corruption is to pay them a decent wage, train them properly and have a mandatory jail time sentence for corruption. Currently they are low paid and poorly trained therefore no incentive not t lose their jobs and of course more often than not instead of jail time they just get shifted to another police station.

The only thing they will be found guilty of is not kicking the bribe UP the chain...
