Ferry from Koh Samet to Hua Hin?

We will come to Thailand on the 18 of November and we will start with 10 days at the island of Koh Samet. After that we would like to go to Huai Yang city to meet some Swedish friends(Villa Maris). We would like to travel by boat/ train if this is possible.Some years ago I took a ferry from Pattaya to Hua Hin but it does not seem to work nowadays. Please advice us what to do.

no ferries running to Hua hin from rayong or anywhere near, just road via Bangkok
