Boy has now been sentenced to 20 years in prison, and charged with 720,000 baht

20 year sentence so he will be eligible for “amnesties” ( sentence commutations) after 8 years served. Most likely this ex-cop murderer will paroled back onto the streets in about 8 years time after 1/3 served. The 720,000 baht “charge” is a fine or compensation payment to the family of the woman he murdered? Hopefully it is a fine, he is broke  and he has do the time for that at 500baht a day - 1,440 days - 3 years 10 months. So 12 years total? Life is cheap.

Thailand is on a bit of a roll of late  convicting and hold responsible police/ex-police for their crimes. Never enough, but better than nothing.

That's a lot of assumptions.....🥴

Only assumption there is that he will get parole. Most crimes, except drugs, are eligible for parole after 1/3 sentence served. Ex-cop in Thailand won’t get parole? Since when.
