How can anyone respect the law when the legal system is so rotten and the enfrcering boys in brown are so totally corrupt. Ordinary people have no protection from the law of the police, so mister coup leader look in the mirror and see where the main failure lies. It is not with regular hard working Thai citizens it starts and ends with you.

“Everybody wants democracy, and the government isn’t opposed to that.

The irony of it. A coup leader that ousted a legitimate democratically elected government claims the high grounds as a defender of democratic principles. A "leader" that can invoke article 44 and dictate without any parliamentary backup. The police force used by the authorities is riddled with corruption that people have to deal with on a day to day basis and they certainly don't need reminding of their "right" to defend themselves. They will be very proactive there.
