Cambodia’s Minister of Defense Tea Banh and Chinese Ambassador Wang Wentian were spotted bathing in the sea together after the opening ceremony of a naval base built by China in Cambodia’s Sihanoukville province earlier this month. The Ream Naval Base is China’s first naval facility in mainland Southeast Asia. Ream Naval Base is considered to be a way for China to expand its […]

Well done Joe Biden another classic foreign policy clanger to go with the rest off them over his 40 years of failure.

This is not about Biden. They were already building this navy base when Trump was president.

Considering the fact that the base was started in 2019, nearly 2 years after Trump was President this has nothing to do with Biden. The base would have been fully completed and commissioned during Trump's tenure except for the delays caused by Covid.

You are confused. the compromised president was removed once Biden was elected.  There was nothing Biden could do since Cambodia is a sovereign country, and Trump had already given his tacit agreement by not objecting when the Chinese started building.

Have you ever seen Mel Brooks comedy masterpiece, The Producers? You bring to mind the playwright Franz Liebkind.

In this case The Trump family hadn't received millions of dollars and other gifts from the CCP (but the Biden's have) as recently verified by even the most left wing MSM outlets.

Correct Cambodia is a sovereign country however the CCP was less likely to make inflammatory gestures under Trump a good example of this was a few days ago when Lloyd Austin ( The first affirmative action US Defence Secretary got schooled by his CCP counterpart in Singapore a few days ago).

But what can we expect when as verified by even the most left wing MSM outlets his Boss (Joe Biden) and family received millions of dollars and other gifts from the CCP over the last few years.

No I've never seen this so called masterpiece but talking about playwrights did you know Adam Schiff is an amateur playwright? He's very good at making things up too.

Perhaps you can provide a reliable source for this "recently verified" evidence. Just as there doesn't appear to be an "MSM outlet", there has yet to be any evidence produced of Trump's "billion five" and other accusations leveled against Joe Biden or the Biden family.

Here we go again. Another rant by those blaming US President Biden or US ex-President Trump for decisions in another country. When will people understand that not everything happening in the world must be the result of American action or inaction.

Cambodia is a sovereign country and, regardless of our thoughts about them, their Leaders and through them their people, have the right to make both good and bad decisions, unassociated with any need to guided by the US or any other country. They then bear the responsibility for doing so and any ramifications, good or bad, that come out of it.

I don't feel comfortable that any country sees a need to build military complexes outside of their own sovereign territory. I personally feel behind it all is a desire for a measure of control and belief they have to protect their national interests, usually at the expense of the national interests of someone else.

But the Americans are the last ones that should be commenting on another country opening a military base in another country, let alone in a partisan manner, considering just how many they have in foreign countries.

Don’t those two points contradict each other?

That article might lead one to believe your last point is incorrect.

Cambodia has sold out Thailand and Vietnam, not to mention Malaysia and the Philippines... China can now park warships right up their arse in the Gulf of Thailand, and make china's illegal claims to the south china sea impossible to challenge

Don’t worry. That new submarine and four new fighter jets will scare the life out of the Chinese if they try anything on with the mighty foe that is Thailand. They don’t have a Victory Monument for nothing you know 😉

Why must some of us turn everything into a Trump/Biden blame game?

It is the US, period. We screwed up, China is taking advantage. Cambodia is now a subsidiary of China. Thailand is headed that way too. Never Vietnam or the PI.

China always plays the long game. They don't need a hot war to absorb Taiwan. It will be a soft coup, and maybe in 20-30 years from now. Chill, my friends.

There is no contradiction. The "Naval Facility" you refer to is one of 2 structures demolished in the course of the expansion of other facilities.  The structure was a 30 meter long boat house that provided covering for some of the smaller patrol vessels. It hardly a state of the art infrastructure. According to  Voice of America, the US Government funded news service,  the Cambodia government  gave notice of the planned demolition in 2017 and the USA did not object.  Military bases regularly demolish and build outbuildings, although in this case, the Cambodians  put the site to  better use.

I don't wish to see a  PLA military base in Cambodia, but the reality is that cambodia can do as it wishes within its  territory.  The USA has a bad habit of damaging its interests on its own because of petty politics and an ignorance of  the outside world. Cambodia and Laos have been vassal states of China for decades and the only way to contain them is to play nice with their natural enemies, Thailand and Vietnam. This mess in Cambodia is another in a long list of made in America miscues. Blaming it on Biden explains in large part why the USA was caught flatfooted. Americans are too busy knifing each other in the back and pushing conspiracy claims to catch on when they are getting outwitted by others.
