Despite the ‘official’ closing time for nightlife venues around Bangkok being extended to midnight, from 11pm, on June 1, many venues have continued to push their luck with authorities for the last few months. This venue since February. Yesterday morning Pathumwan district police raided a bar in Bangkok’s Rong Muang area after receiving a tip off that the venue had been admitting underage customers and operating until 4am. Ah of course with the last paragraph the plot thickens. Bars all round the country have and/or have been allowed to operate since February or earlier.

Good thing the officers in charge of the Pathumwan police station have been........transferred, as punishment presumably.

Btw, for those not aware, Pathumwan is basically the very center of Bangkok, from Rama 4 Rd in the south to Sukhumvit (Siam, Ploenchit etc.) in the north, and from Benjakitti Park in the east to Hua Lamphong in the west.
