Airlines participate in trials of IATA Travel Pass app

Recommended Posts

A number of airlines worldwide are participating in trials of a Travel Pass app from the International Air Transport Association. TTR Weekly reports that at Montréal-Trudeau airport in Canada, Air France is trialling the app for outbound flights until July 15, just one of a number of airlines testing it globally. The app is designed to ease passengers’ concerns about travel and Covid-19 certification requirements. Passengers will be able to use the app to check the latest entry requirements for their destination. Covid-19 test results can also be sent directly to the app via partner laboratories. ”So we may improve our customers’ experience, ........trialling this digital solution that enables passengers to safely store their Covid-19 test results and thus streamline their time at the airport.”

This is nothing else than another trick to lure people into track and trace, providing personal data on NOT SAFE servers, being used for other purposes and possibly being distributed to third parties and governments.

People nowadays are stupid, for any small convenience or material saving - thinking about cash back cards for example - they are willing to trough away personal data same as giving up their personal freedom.

I installed the Travel Pass app to check it out, but it requires an invitation code provided by your airline.  The app has a lot of negative reviews and doesn't appear to work very well yet.  Hopefully it will work well at some point and become an international standard to verify that travelers have been vaccinated.  It would be very useful for the "sandbox" as Thai authorities have discovered it will be difficult to verify a person's vaccination status.

It's a sick world we live in. And I'm NOT talking about the big nothing burger of a "pandemic". It would be nice to know which airlines supports this madness, so we know who to boycott.

Basically... all of them. The IATA has 292 member airlines.

This ship sailed with the first iPhone. Even with anonymized records it's possible to trace everywhere you go and everything you do or buy. Turning off location services helps - a little - using a VPN on your phone helps - a little - but short of giving up your phone, credit cards, debit card, and checks (which are digitally processed nowadays) there's now way to be private.

The US government wanted to get an overly broad warrant to trace the cell phones of a criminal group a few years ago. The warrant was rightly denied. So the Department of Justice just went and bought the data on the open market bypassing all legal controls. It's a new world out there.
