As Thailand’s bars and nightclubs reopen (until midnight), Phuket officials are still on their toes about Covid-19. This week, Phuket officials inspected night venues in the island province’s main city district. Vice Governor Pichet Panaphong, along with Phuket City Police and others officials, went to venues around the Nimit Circle (well known as Seahorse Circle), to probe whether venues were following public health requirements. Pichet told The Phuket Express that most venues followed the requirements. “For example, all staffers must receive at least two doses of Covid-19 vaccines and entertainment operators must check if their customers were vaccinated.” Phuket authorities seem to […]

Seems, according to the grapevine, that most places have been open since at least November. And as far as this heralded "reopening" is concerned, it hasn't equated to any additional venues opening (as everyone who could open, opened already). My girlfriend and I are going to Phuket for some vitamin sea (for the first time since COVID started). I'm looking forward to seeing for myself first hand just what it's now like down there. I'm expected to see fewer places open (as some will have simply gone out of business; or decided against reopening because it wasn't yet profitable), a few less people (given current arrival numbers), and sporadic mask wearing (and no enforcement).

Amazing the officials went to a handful of pre warned small bars in phuket town.. but left bangla road in Patong alone that's open full swing no covid measures at all.. but shhh tourists bring money so let's just check a few bars in phuket town so we look like we are doing something

In town, they had to collect the brown envelopes, now. In Bangla, that is done every week/month

The number of times such things happen and we find ourselves commenting on it in such a casual way. It is utterly disgraceful that the police force of an entire country behave as they do. Most people in the world have no idea what the Thai police are like. This includes would be foreign investors.

Because they are shorter than Thai bar girls, and like Tom Cruise need to stand on a box on tippy toes to perform the gymnastics.
