So are they suspects because they are illegal Burmese or is it because a thai person would not do something like this?

The article suggests the obvious answer to your question: being an illegal worker supports the possibility of a motive (i.e. to prevent exposure) and possibility (due to location) + no pre-existing conflicts were identified.

Now it's up to the Thai equivalent of Agatha Christie to find out if indeed it was one or several of the workers, or somebody else with a yet to be discovered motive. My limited contribution is that it wasn't the butler.

It sounds like a tough nut to crack, and as long as no nuts are cracked in the process of trying to find out whodunit, kudos to the TRP if they do manage to figure out & prove who were responsible.

"Police believe the local man was murdered and buried after he discovered an illegal camp of Burmese". Maddol was quite the sleuth, 109 people crammed into 2  houses. Now the police must match his ability to determine which of the 109 must be guilty.
