More Laotians have been travelling to Thailand ever since the Nong Khai border checkpoint reopened. Before travel restrictions lifted, there were about 300 Laotians visiting Thailand per day. Now, that number has soared to about 2,000 Laotians per day, according the the head of customs control at Nong Khai Customs House, Pakin Tiabkam. Pakin said 30,000 foreigners crossed the Nong Khai border checkpoint from May 9-31.       Life in the Isaan Boonies.

      Snaps in the boonies here. It's the evening of 2024's last day. I'm left alone. The wife and daughter have gone to the market festival in Ban Dung. I'm taking liberties in their absence by putting on my TV faves. Right now it's a compilation of Maria Callas's greatest opera arias. As soon as she gets back that will be off, double quick, replaced by GOT7 or Blackpink. Lots of drinking. Lots of music coming from all angles. Fireworks later. Hope I'm asleep by then. Been getting on with the 4th water solar system. Took the panels to the farm at the w/e. The frame was already in place so it was easy-peasy to fit then. Just had to put in a few screws and all done. Not yet connected up the panels. Slow but sure. Would have been far more ahead but for Mrs Snaps new project. She ordered three solar lights to illuminate the ponds. Fixing them up kept me occupied for a day or so. Everything else on hold. Knocking up the bases. If it needs to be moved, it's easy to unscrew it. The only one like this. This one close to the house. Two between ponds 1 & 2, and 3 & 4. The two at the ponds are mounted on bamboos; about 5 metres up. Mrs Snaps giving it a wobble. When in Ban Dung last, I spotted a sad looking dog. I stopped the Mazza and approached. He would have none of it. So I put a bit of dog biscuit in a small bowl and left him. He just wasn't right. But gobbled down the grub all the same. Always have some dog and cat biscuit in the pick-up for just this. A new cafe has opened just out of town on the 2022. Anna's Cafe. Don't know if I'll ever go in there, Looks the biz though. The baling truck is doing the rounds. Any farm that used the harvester gets a visit. Part of the deal. All self-contained. Mildred's school bus. Oscar and Robert; get out of the road! Duck feast. Water melon. Chopped chicken. Rice. +++++ Pool are certainly enjoying their visits to London. Two away games; eleven goals. The Irons the last victim of the red machine. My three picks were all in action in the PDC champs at Alley Pally. Humphries out. Doets out. Only Geordie Callan Rydz through. Van Gerwin looks good, but I'll stick with Callan to win the World Championship and pocket £500k. He has funny hair though. Is he actually bald? The wife has just arrived back. Went straight to the TV and turned off 'The Marriage of Figaro'. ''Dead people music.'' She said. Mildred bought me a new hat. She said that in the market they were selling kittens for 3,500 baht. ''What was special about them Mil?'' ''Lovely face - little ears.'' Fireworks have just started up. Bang on nine. Planning to get the house for the ducks sorted in the next week. I'll do a nice house and tow it out into the middle of pond 5. Should be safe there, until they know the score. They have not yet been swimming. Hope they can. Also finish the water system. Where is the time going? We had 1500 sacks of chicken poopoo, Just 50 left. Counted them today. I paid the delivery man 37 and a half thousand baht. The Mrs has been selling it off at 4 sacks for 100 baht. I took 600 for the palms. So where is my dosh? She owes me over 20K I reckon. Hope to see that soon. It's that time of year again. The time rolls by so quickly when yer get older. Only one thing left to say; prosperous 2025 to all. No rain for 91 days.
