Unless all 12 slept with the bloke they won't catch this disease that IS basically shingles as it is the same viral family, despite media hype pronouncing that it isn't.

Monkeypox and shingles viruses are not even in the same viral realm. The former is brought by an Orthopoxovirus, (realm Varidnaviria, DNA viruses encoding for the HK97 viral capsid) the latter by Herpesvirus (realm Duplodnaviria, DNA viruses encoding the jelly rolled mCP capsid). It's like comparing Guaraní with Masai and saying they are the same ethnic group.

As with herpes and shingles you have to be in extremely close intimate contact for their to be any likelyhood of transmission. It is nothing like transmitting a cold or influenza. Monkeypox has been isolated since the 70's with varying numbers of cases every year, this year will be no different and likely will only exceed other years due to population increase. Happy to be proven wrong but we have statistics from 50 years behind us.

No, they are not the same virus family - the virus that cause shingles (and chickenpox) is a member of the Herpesviridae family, the monkeypox virus is a member of the Poxviridae family. They are both spread in the same way, mainly by close contact but also by coughs and sneezes. Chickenpox is far more infectious though.

The disease is not shingles, nor does it have anything to do with herpes.

Monkeypox virus belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus in the family Poxviridae. The Orthopoxvirus genus also includes variola virus (which causes smallpox), vaccinia virus , and cowpox virus.

Shingles is a manifestation of the varicella zoster virus. It belongs to  Varicellovirus genus in the family Herpesviradae.

The monkeypox virus can be cleared from the human body in 3 months. The varicella virus remains forever. This is why people have herpes eruptions until they die. It is why a person can continue to have multiple episodes of shingles.

There has been an alert on the Orthopoxviruses for over a decade with a warning that there would be spread outside  normal groups. The eruption of monkeypox infections was  already predicted and published. The warnings were ignored.  The virus is also believed to have mutated. Because much of the world ignored the epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists who repeatedly warned of this type of event, does not mean that this is a non event.

Major increase in human monkeypox incidence 30 years after smallpox vaccination campaigns cease in the Democratic Republic of Congo  15 Authors Info & Affiliations   August 30, 2010  107(37)16262-16267    https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.1005769107

The world's population was protected because of the smallpox vaccine. Now that no one is vaccinated anymore, and 40 years have passed since the world was vaccinated, much of the world is at risk.

Monkeypox is not the benign infection often described. In non immunized patients it can leave behind gaping flesh wounds and serious complications. The fatality rates of 1% reflect the presence in populations who had the benefit of immunity. It will be even lower in populations with access to  good healthcare and nutrition. When looked at in poor populations without underlying immunity, the fatality rate is closer to 10%.

Wuhan Institute of Virology just happened to be working on Monkeypox too.

The potential for an outbreak has been known and discussed for over decade. Multiple university labs around the world  have been working on the virus for more than a year.  Because you are unaware that the warnings were provided  does not mean that this is a chinese conspiracy.

Dr John Campbell, did a reference video on it today.

Nurse Campbell to the rescue again. Don't be fooled by the Doctor title - it is legitimate, but it is actually a PhD in Nursing Education, he is not a medical doctor or any kind of specialist.
