Newly elected governor Chadchart Sittipunt revealed he plans to stamp out corruption as part of his flagship “Bangkok’s Nine Good” policy. Corruption in Thailand has been a national issue for decades. The kingdom is ranked 110th out of 180 countries evaluated in Transparency International‘s 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index. The index examines public sector corruption, countries whose public sectors are perceived to be more corrupt receive a higher ranking. Commitment to fail. This guy will be neck deep in manufactured or real scandals focused on him before he knows what’s hit him. For his sake I hope he is celibate, incredibly rich and live streams his life.

A worthy aim - but doomed to failure in a country where corruption and nepotism are seen as a normal part of everyday business. Thailand ranks at 110 out of 180 countries in the corruption stakes, and is getting worse.
