Thailand’s Department of Disease Control has stopped reporting Covid-19 infections with ATK tests. A spokesperson for the CCSA said that tomorrow, another proposal for changes in Covid-19 reporting will be submitted to the meeting of the Public Health Ministry’s Emergency Operations Centre. The proposal states that, starting June 1, the DDC will only report cases that require hospitalisation. The spokesperson, Dr. Sumanee Wacharasint, said the Public Health Ministry has already revised its case reporting to the 2-week average, but the CCSA still gives an update of the infections on a daily basis. The announcement follows the Public Health Ministry saying the […]

They never have reported them, have they?

Thaiger seems to have stopped reporting daily infections altogether recently, but when they did, it was always stressed that the figures were only from PCR tests.
The fact that they hardly do any PCR tests now probably accounts for the drop in the figures. (Not that they did many before compared to other countries)

Everyone that I know who has had covid in the last few months have NOT had a PCR test, only ATK and so they haven't been included in the figures.

Never completely or accurately. How could they. People test and home and recover without the DDC ever knowing.

Let it be so. Finally, some common sense is starting to prevail.

Why wait until mid June (maybe), why not use the brain cell's and drop mask wearing outside as of June 1, fair enough keep masks in crowded places or inside malls etc. but when outside in fresh air, come on !

Good step.

Does this mean the CCSA will stop daily briefings and reporting case numbers daily too?

When Covid drops off the news (and masks drop off the TV presenters) Thailand will start actually moving forward.

Clearly a move designed to accelerate the  move to “endemic” status.

Not sure.  I thought endemic was defined as 1 death per 1,000 infections (0.1%)?

For Pnut and Co that figure is a walk in the park, it's only a number, the others can die from something else.

That’s why they’ll stop reporting positive tests. Positive test=/=infections.

The daily or weekly deaths are around traffic fatalities and tuberculosis deaths.

Can we just end this madness?  There’s a very specific identifiable minority at risk for serious illness and multiple tools to protect them (real masks, vaccines, and treatment). meanwhile a huge percentage of the population has been vaccinated and infected already.
