Thaiger Talk Quiz #069 - Vegetables in Thailand

Recommended Posts

There's a minor error in the quiz. Parkia singularis is not a Thai native species, here we have four species of Parkia: speciosa (which typically bears the "stink bean" nickname), leiophylla, sumatrana, and timoriana. P. singularis is common in southern part of the Malay peninsula, in Borneo, and in Sumatra. Helen Hopkins worked extensively in the mid 90s on this genus, see for example the excellent: "The Indo-Pacific Species of Parkia (Leguminosae : Mimosoideae)"

I noticed that too and was going to offer correction. Parkia speciosa.

You also identified another misunderstanding. The bean is a legume like the peanut or peas and is not a fruit.  (I must disqualify myself from this question as I was so certain I had to go look it up.)  a 4/5 for me.
