With just days to go before Phuket re-opens, and talks underway to re-open the country as a whole in October, one of the world’s largest hotel platforms says the data shows things are looking up for Thailand. Bradley Haines from SiteMinder says Thai hotel operators should feel some encouragement from current booking trends around the world. According to Haines, the rollout of vaccines and the loosening of restrictions in many countries has led to the highest number of global hotel bookings since the pandemic began. Just another lunatic talking about Spain as an example for Thailand and then encourage Thai hotel owners to step back and re-evaluate...

“I would encourage all Thai hoteliers to step back, take in a wider perspective by looking at global data flows, and stay in tune with what’s happening in the broader hotel industry, as international guests may be returning to Thailand before we know it.”

Enquiries doesn't mean actual bookings, as hotelier of a boutique hotel, be buried soon is a strong expectation due the hurdles set to come over and also for tourists returning to their own countries, like  china imposing 3 weeks quarantine for their returnees. Furthermore easing hurdles may come too late to save further % of already closed hospitalities biz. Then banks still do not help at all SMEs to survive just even a year before a rebound.

What kind of nonsense because Thailand conditions are not the same like in Europe. And also europe has another standard and competence level and not this sandbox alcatraz circus.

They don't mention in the article that there was practically no travel last year. So a rise of 97% of almost nothing equals  almost nothing. Thai government has to stop dicking around and changing their mind about ridiculous rules and just open up unrestricted to vaccinated  tourists!!!
